Stichting Zonnemaire Buitengewoon organiseert deze zomer op zaterdagavond 14 augustus een filmevenement in de open lucht.

Er zijn 15 bekende en minder bekende filmers gevraagd speciaal voor deze avond een korte film van 5 minuten te maken met het overkoepelende thema “ZAAD”. Een connectie met het platteland wordt op prijs gesteld. De films worden vertoond op 10 separate schermen, het platteland zelf is het decor van deze films. De vertoning zal plaatsvinden in een polder achter Zonnemaire aan de Noord Langeweg. Het publiek wordt gevraagd zelf een stoeltje en zaklamp mee te nemen. Het project wordt financieel ondersteund door het Nederlands Fonds voor de Film, Provincie Zeeland (Leader+ en Cultuur) en Gemeente Schouwen-Duiveland, en er zijn er meer dan 30 sponsors!

Samenwerking
Er is voor dit project een internationale samenwerking met NW Devon in Engeland. Een aantal Engelse en Nederlandse filmers maken samen films zowel in Engeland als in Nederland. Om dit te kunnen realiseren is er een samenwerking tussen Leader+ NW Devon, Leader+ provincie Zeeland, Northern Devon Coast and Countryside Service en Stichting Zonnemaire Buitengewoon.

The Dutch Connection

CHANGES to the region’s coastline and countryside will be highlighted through a unique partnership between North Devon and Holland.

Northern Devon Coast and Countryside Service has joined forces with a Dutch cultural organisation to commission a film project called “Seed — The Changing Nature of Rural Environments.”
It is part of the Art in the Landscape project and the aim is to show how art can be used to increase understanding and draw attention to the issues involved.
West Country film makers Kirsty Waterworth and Heidi Morstang will be working with Dutch artists Bei Ning and Marinus van Dijke to produce four short films, with Kirsty based in Holland and Heidi in North Devon.
Across the English Channel, the filming will focus on the rural community of Nord and Midden (North and Middle) Zeeland, a region facing similar challenges, with a decline in agriculture and fishing but a swing towards tourism.
Heidi has been busy filming at local coastal areas and in the countryside surrounding them, to document and explore the changing environment - not only physical changes but also the way people make use of the land and interact with it.
The Dutch side of the project is being handled by Stichting Zonnemaire Buitengewoon (the Foundation Zonnemarie Extraordinary) and the films will be shown at a festival in Zonnemarie next month, with UK screenings in September at a variety of venues.
Funding has come from North West Devon LEADER +, Devon County Council, Torridge District Council, North Devon District Council and Northern Devon Coast and Countryside Service.
Heidi explained how she used time lapsed photography to show how small changes in the landscape could in fact be quite dramatic, although people might not at first notice them.
“It is all about making people aware of what they have here in North Devon and how they can become more conscious of it,” she said.“Sometimes people don’t realise this until they look at it from another perspective.”
On Sunday, from 11am until 3pm, film makers Heidi Morstang and Bei Ning will be on Croyde beach to interview and film local people and visitors. They will be asking what people feel is special to this area of North Devon. Everyone is welcome to go and have their say. Refreshments will be provided.
